I'm not going anywhere permanently or long-term, nuking the blog, anything like that ... it's just disheartening to lose like 300 posts worth of pictures, because I'm sure as fuck not uploading them again. Maybe I did something wrong in the course of deleting Google+, but I'm certain I toggled the button to delete G+ content only.
Anyway, I'm sure I'll be back, although I have no idea what I'm going to do about those godawful question marks where my images used to be. Like I said, really disheartening.
Blogger and G+ share the images in your Picasa account. You may not be aware that you have a Picasa account, but it's generated automatically when you upload a picture in Blogger. So, you could try logging into Picasa to see if the pictures are still there; if so, there may be a way to get them back.
ReplyDeleteI did. They're gone. :(
ReplyDeleteHaving worked in IT customer support (albeit mostly tier 1), I hesitate to emit a pod-shriek signifying that it's all Google's fault when I recognize the possibility of user error in situations like these. But I really can't think of anything I might have done wrong. (Which I suppose is a hallmark of someone who did something wrong, but still.)
FUUUUUCK. That SUCKS. I'm sorry to hear it, man. That's absolutely terrible. You had so many great images on this blog. Reminds me of a campaign I once had where the DM decided to put the whole thing on hiatus after a cat liberally drenched all his paper campaign notes and maps in urine. Though sadly, he never had the heart to rebuild and restart the game. I hope you're able to come back after a bit.
ReplyDeleteOH noes. Why would you delete your G+ account now though, of all times:

Oh well! You are greater than the sum of your image library, sir!
Did you try undeleting your google+ account, or creating it again, in the same way that undeleting a blog brings everything back.
ReplyDeleteIt is disheartening however assuming you do have many of the images in a folder somewhere I guarantee you that reuploading images for ten or fifteen posts takes less time than writing one post and requires no thought at all. It is a kind of pootering around that you could do while cooking your dinner. Do everything back to the beginning of your Dwarf Romance posts and you'll feel happier.
That's frustrating as hell, about the images.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, enjoy having a breather.
