I've added settlements and castles. The western half of the map is where the initial action is, so to speak, so it's a bit more "populated" at this point than the eastern half. I still have work to do, including adding more features and naming/lettering the features that I've already got.
Below are an overview photo of the map in its entirety, a detail photo of the Dwarf-Town and Castle Blitzendrang area, and scanned images of parts of the western half of the current map. Click the scans to see larger versions.
I don't yet have any idea how useful the hex numbers will prove with even a first-generation photocopy, much less second-generation and later. Sorry. I'll endeavor to provide "directions" other than hex numbers in the text.
(Please keep in mind that this is just a fun project intended more as an example of how I do things than as a finished setting I actually expect anyone to run.)

That is a very cool handful of maps, thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteNow I am starting to get a Divine Right/Minaria vibe from your inking.
ReplyDeleteThat's a compliment.
The Moldwarp dude is a pixie with clogs, yes? Sweet.

ReplyDeleteThat's indeed a compliment! The Minaria map still stands out to me as one of the best mostly-unsung maps ever, and I loved the old "Minarian Legends" installments in The Dragon.

Haha, yeah, that's supposed to be one of the Evil Pixies in service to Count Weedgallow the Elvish Vampire. I forgot to draw in the little barrow entrance, which I've now done on the actual map.
"Darkdurdle"... Another splendid name...
ReplyDeleteVery well done! I love the style and the feel that map evokes.
